INSPIRATION | 5 useful Christmas DIY ideas

xmas diy ideas
Halbzeit!

Half-time! In eleven days it's Christmas, and we shorten our time with do handicrafts. The whole thing was called like this before it became DIY (Do-it-Yourself). On pinterest there are many things one can try - especially what concerns Christmas. We've searched for a few ideas and tried to make them. In the collage further below you can see the pinterest originals. We did our best - and had a lot of fun. Christmas music in the background was a very important thing. ;)

Let's begin with the reindeer gift tags. For this you don't need too many things, like all DIY-ideas one can do this with thing one has at home anyways. Who doesn't have some nuts to spare from St. Nicolas?

At first we folded the paper so that it had the size DIN A7 (74x105mm). Then it has to be folded once more in the middle and glued together. After that we made a hole with a hole punch on the top.

Let's go on with the peanuts: They are opened quite carefully in the middle so that one has two halves. Depending on how long they already lie around, one can also eat them. Unfortunately ours were really old. Therefore, we threw them away. Then we glued the nut halves onto the paper.

As soon as the nut has dried, we give the reindeer a face and antlers. Finished!

TIP:
If you already know on which present you would like to give the tag, you can give the reindeers which are for the girls lashes.

We decorate our christmas tree always in two colours - not too clean, but still clean. For our second common Christmas we want to hang white and silver onto the tree. And so that it doesn't become dull: A Nightmare Before Christmas balls! It's not only Eden favourite Halloween and Christmas movie, but Jacks face looks really good on the Christmas decoration.

First we've drawn the face with a pencil on the ball. Then one has to trace the lines and fill the surfaces. And finished! And we also wanted to make some balls with snowflakes  - just take a white marker and make a plus sign and the struts on the ball. You see - so easy and nevertheless the tree looks way more individual.

TIP:
To get a more intensive black, colour twice and to make it look more real, colour the eyes in the shape of it - not in straight lines.

Fertig!

And because one can't have too much Christmas decoration - and we hardly have white or silver balls, we wanted to try out a Christmas ball-DIY. We think this is very practiacal because one can simply use wrapping paper leftovers.

First you have to choose four different types of wrapping paper and make so many circles with a pair of compasses as you want to have balls on three of the papers. Of the fourth paper you make three times more circles than you need balls - for this we chose a rather neutral glittering white wrapping paper (you can get it at Depot). Afterwards you need to cut out and fold the circles in the middle so that the nice side which one should see is inside. Then cut of threads from a linen thread or any ball piece, ours were about 25 cm long, so that we can hang them on the tree later.

For one ball you need six of this circles, which you stick together on the folded sides. If one half stuck together, you put the thread in (we fixed it with glue) and then glue the rest of the remaining circles together. Finished!

Vielleicht, weil man wirklich mitdenken muss.

Do you know these relatives and friends with one doesn't count on in Christmas time and suddenly they stand in front of the door and one is there with empty hands? These sweet biscuit containers are the ideal solution for it - home-made, festively, and I know nobody who hasn't any biscuits left.

To be honest, this DIY was the most difficult one. Maybe because one really had to think about one was doing. Cut and fold the paper plate like marked here. The more distance you keep between the cuts, the broader the box becomes - Casey has made hers a little more narrow (the red one) and Eden rather more angled (the golden one).

If the skeletal structure of the paper plate is stable, you lay the whole thing out with cellophane and give in the biscuits and close it with a ribbon, so that the biscuits are packed very airtight. In the end there is the funniest part: Decorating! And there are no rules, do something you like, use ribbons, loops or even washitape.

HINT:
Stick the sides of the paper plates together on the inside with double-faced adhesive tape - even better is fitting tape.

And then there are still these people whom one unfortunately can't see at Christimas at all. The solution - maybe this sweet snowman's Christmas card.

And to get this DIN A5 (148x210 mm) card we've folded an DIN A3 (297x420 mm) paper, stuck both halves together and folded it once more. Then from the lower part one folds a stripe about two or three centimetres upwards.

For the snow we took opaque white, which we spot random on the card.

On another sheet of paper we've drawn the snowmen, quite roughly, must't be too exactly. However, it's important that one draws a line and then the main part.

This lines have to be traced with a black liner and the scarfs of the snowmen get their patterns. One must be more exact at this but it hasn't to be perfect, like you can see on the picture on the top.

After everything is outlined, you cut out the snowmen. It's important that you leave a wider stripe so that you're able to stick this on the card later. Moreover we've cut around the black lines, also at the outside edges.

Now only the painting is left, erase the superfluous pencil lines and glue the upwards folded stripe on the card. This sweet Christmas card is ready!

This were out five small and useful Christmas handicraft works. We wish you a nice third advent and much fun at trying these things!
