LISTEN | Weezer

Schon als Kind mochte ich beinahe alles was mit Musik zu tun hatte.
Eines Tages sah ich, dass es ein neues Spiel,mit dem Namen Guitar Hero, gibt. Weil ich sowieso schon immer E-Gitarre spielen wollte und nicht nur klassische, habe ich es mir zum Geburtstag gewünscht und bekommen. Ich war einfach überglücklich. Beim Auspacken habe ich dann bemerkt, dass das mit E-Gitarre spielen relativ wenig am Hut hat, aber ich habe mich trotzdem gefreut. Hat immerhin interessant ausgesehen.

Ich muss ehrlich zugeben, dass ich die meisten Lieder nicht kannte, aber mich immer mehr mit ihnen anfreundete. Vor allem mit einer Band namens Weezer.
Das Lied My Name is Jonas geht mir bis heute nicht aus dem Kopf. Und als ich meine erste E-Gitarre bekommen habe, habe ich eine gefühlte Ewigkeit geübt, bis ich dieses Lied spielen konnte - zumindest so, dass es sich nicht total schrecklich anhört.

Aber genug von meinen Anfängen, kommen wir zum Lied:
Worum es in diesem Lied wirklich geht, war mir schon immer ein Rätsel und wird es wahrscheinlich auch bleiben. Jeder sagt etwas anderes, wobei man doch eigentlich auch einfach auf das hören könnte, was Rivers Cuomo, der Frontman, gesagt hat: Es dreht sich um die Probleme mit der Versicherung, die sein Bruder hatte, als er in einen Autounfall verwickelt war.

Eigentlich ganz simpel, aber hört es euch einmal an, dann wisst ihr, was ich meine. ;)

Even as a child I almost liked everything, which dealt with music.

One day I saw that there is a new game named Guitar Hero. Because I always wanted to play e-guitar and not only the classic one I decided to wish for it on my birthday and what happened? I got this game. I was so excited. While unwrapping it I noticed that this doesn't have to do anything with playing e-guitar, but nevertheless I was glad to have it. It looked interesting at least.

I really have to admit, that I didn't knew most of the songs, but I got to like them. Above all a band called Weezer. The song My Name is Jonas  is still in my head after all these years. And when I got my first e-guitar I practised so long (it felt like an eternity) until I could play it - at least like that, that one can listen to it. 

But enough of my story, let's move on to the song:
The meaning of this song will stay a mystery, it always was one to me. Everybody says something else about it, even if one could just listen to what's Rivers Cuomo, the frontman, is saying: It is about his brother who got in trouble with the insurance as he got into a car accident. 

So simple, but just listen to it, you'll know what I mean. ;)
