listen to: Jennifer Rostock [Du willst mir an die Wäsche]

Titel: Du willst mir an die Wäsche
Künstler: Jennifer Rostock
Album: Der Film
Veröffentlicht: 2009
Genre: Alternative Rock

Was singt die da bitte?" - abgesehen vom Refrain.

Finally a German band! It appeals to me that we sometimes underestimate this language totally. One comes to international success with English lyrics - not true, how Tokio Hotel proved us. Perhaps TH isn't the coolest example but they had rather good texts now and then and were successful. At all events what I actually want to say is, that I like German songs. Primarily within the last few years there came out a couple of good songs.

But let's move on to Jennifer Rostock. As I heard the band for the first time (with the song Kopf oder Zahl - which you perhaps know?) I thought that the singer is called Jennifer Rostock. However, she isn't. For everyone who still thinks this: Her name is Jennifer Weist. An unbelieveably important information, I know.
The song Du willst mir an die Wäsche which means something like to be hot for somebodys knickers is awesome. I like it because if one listens to it without looking at the video one first thinks "WTF? What is she singing about?" - except for the chorus. One then sees the video and then there is the great aha-experience. A boy and a girl are in a cinema, all sorts of scenes in a movie are described.

For certain the song isn't everybody's cup of tea also the band, but I like them. They get it across pleasantly and also funny.
I noticed that my playlist is full of songs by Jennifer Rostock but I was not aware of it. One simply hears her, sings along, has fun and one must not make an effort and hope for a deeper meaning or look for it. It simply is said like how it is meant.

I am now interested in you opinion. Do you like such songs or the band?
