Afterlife von Avenged Sevenfold war eines dieser Lieder, bei denen ich nicht mehr weiß, wie sie eigentlich in meiner Playlist gelandet sind. Es war einfach da. So ging es mir aber nicht nur mit dem Lied sondern mit der der Band auch. Egal, wie sehr ich mich anstrenge, herauszufinden, ob ich sie über Youtube kenne oder woher sonst - es fällt mir einfach nicht ein. Also keine spannende Geschichte an dieser Stelle. Und auch wenn sie schon recht bekannt sind und sie (fast) jedem ein Begriff sein werden, dachte ich mir, ich stelle sie euch heute vor.

Im Lied geht es darum, dass ein Mann stirbt und vor dem "Himmelstor" merkt, dass er noch viel auf der Erde zu tun hat und nicht einfach so gehen kann. Deshalb will er wieder zurück.

Als ich es die ersten paar Male gehört habe, habe ich mir nicht wirklich Gedanken über den Text gemacht, weil das ganze Lied im Gesamten einfach so gut war. Die starken Riffs, die Stimme von M. Shadows, es hat einfach so gut gepasst. Aber erst vor kurzem habe ich dann wirklich darüber nachgedacht. Und es ist definitiv etwas worüber man jetzt sich jetzt noch Gedanken machen sollte, bevor man es irgendwann bereut.

Ich glaube, viele ergreifen Chancen nicht, die da sind, weil sie Angst haben, dass sie scheitern könnten. Viele blockieren sich selbst, damit sie gar nie das erreichen, was sie wirklich wollen, damit der Sturz dann nicht zu weh tut. Aber was passiert wenn wir uns immer wieder selbst an Dingen hindern, die uns eigentlich wichtig wären? Ich bin der festen Überzeugung, dass man es irgendwann bereuen wird. Deshalb sollten wir viel öfter versuchen, die schlechten Tage hinter uns zu lassen und nach vorne zu blicken um für unsere Träume zu kämpfen. Denn wenn man es zumindest versucht, kann man es sich nie vorwerfen, es nicht getan zu haben.

Viel mehr gibt es dann eigentlich für den heutigen Tag auch nicht mehr zu sagen. Außer: Wie seht ihr diese Situation und gefällt euch das Lied bzw. die Band?

Afterlife by Avenged Sevenfold was one of these songs which you don't know where you know them from. It just was there. I felt that way not only because of the song but also because of the band either. No matter how hard I try to find out if I know them from Youtube or something like that - it doesn't work. So no thrilling story in this place. And even if they are quite popular and (almost) known by everybody I thought I have to introduce them to you today.

The song is about a man that dies and in front of "heaven's gate" he realizes that he still has to do a lot of things on earth and simply can't go. Therefore he wants to go on earth back again.

When I heard it the first couple of times, I really didn't gave my attention to the lyrics because the whole song was so good in the whole. The voice of M. Shadows, the strong reefs.. everything fitted so well. But recently I really thought about it. And it is one of those things you definitely should think of now before one regrets it sometimes.

I think many people don't seize chances which are there because they are afraid of failing. Many block themselves so that the fall isn't too painful. But what does happen if we prevent ourselves again and again from things which would be important to us? I am strongly convinced that one will regret it sometimes. Therefore we should try to leave the bad days behind and look forwards to fight for our dreams. Because if one tries one can't reproace himself for didn't doing it.
