Gestern habe ich mich seit langem mal wieder einmal zu dem Spiel Need For Speed: Underground gesetzt. Ich habe dabei bemerkt, dass es nicht nur noch immer eines meiner absoluten Lieblingsspiele ist, sondern auch für mich wiederentdeckt, dass der Soundtrack der Hammer ist. Ich wollte mir vor ein paar Jahren den gesamten runterladen, bin aber bis heute nicht dazugekommen bzw. habe es vergessen.

Ein Lied stach mir dabei schon immer besonders ins Auge: The Only von Static X. 

Aber heute habe ich was dazugelernt: Man kanns auch auf Youtube hören oder sich runterladen. Wie schon beim Lovesongs-Eintrag war ich nämlich mit gerade mal neun Jahren (das ist ja ewig her!) noch nicht wirklich in der Lage Songs downzuloaden. Heutzutage weiß das (leider) schon jeder in dem Alter - das ist aber ein anderes Thema.
Jedenfalls bin ich dann vor dem PC gesessen und hab das Rennen immer wieder neu gestartet, bis endlich The Only kam. Man macht schon lustige Dinge, wenn man keine Ahnung hat.



Im Lied geht es darum, dass der Sänger Wayne Static mit seiner Exfreundin abrechnet. Laut Interviews hat er einfach alles aufgeschrieben, was ihm in diesem Moment durch den Kopf ging. Heraus kam dann ein Lied das man gut nachvollziehen kann. Sie hat ihn unterdrückt und er wollte das nicht länger. Man könnte es auch als generelles "Aus-der-Unterdrückung"-Lied interpretieren. Es gibt viele Dinge, die einen immer wieder unter Druck setzen - man muss es nicht jedem Recht machen und das sollte man auch irgendwann realisieren. Vielleicht schafft man es mit diesem Lied im Hinterkopf.

Und wieder mal gibt es keine Chance mehr sie live zu sehen, da sie sich 2013 getrennt haben. Irgendwie richtig traurig, dass sich immer die guten Bands trennen.

Ich denke, Need For Speed: Underground hat den Grundstein gelegt, dass mich eine solche Musik anspricht. Ich hab ganz vergessen, dass ich das schon mit neun richtig cool fand. Zuerst dachte ich mir schon "Oh mein Gott." aber irgendwann singt man einfach nur mehr mit und steigert sich total rein. Aber dann legt man das Spiel weg. Jedes Jahr kommen neue spannende aber auch schwierige Dinge auf einen zu, die einem die Zeit rauben. Dann vergisst man. Man vergisst, dass man mal wirklich gerne gespielt hat, sich diese Musik irgendwann mal kaufen/runterladen wollte und trotzdem findet man wieder zu diesen Dingen. Aus welchem Grund auch immer. Ich bin jedenfalls nur froh, dass es so war. Für mich persönlich macht härtere Musik nämlich einfach viel mehr her - ich kann mich damit eher identifizieren als mit den Popsongs, die zur Zeit im Radio laufen.




Yesterday I played the game Need For Speed: Underground once again after a long time. I have noticed that it's still not just one of my favorite games but also rediscovered the remarkable soundtrack. A couple of years ago I wanted to download the whole one but I have forgotten it.

A song which catched my eye from the very first time was: The Only by Static X.

Today I learned something new: One can download songs or listen to them on Youtube. Like I mentioned in the Lovesongs-entry I wasn't able to do this at the age of nine. But the kids nowadays (sadly) know it.
Anyways I sat in front of the PC and started the runs new until The Only finally was the song which played during the run. One does funny things if one has got no idea.

The song describes how the singer Wayne Static setteles up with his ex-girlfriend. According to some interviews he simply has written down everything which was going on inside his head at that moment. The result was a song that one can understand well. She has supressed him and he didn't want this no longer. One could also interpret it as a general "out-of-the-supression"-song. There are so many things which put one under pressure again and again - one doesn't have to make everything right and one should realize this sometimes. Perhaps this song helps.

And again there is no more chance to see them live because the seperated in 2013. Somehow it is really sad that the good bands always break up.

I think, Need For Speed: Underground has layed the foundation, that such music appeals to me. I completely have forgotten that I found this so cool when I was nine. First, I was like "Oh my God." but then you begin to join in singing and obsess over it. But then one putes the game aside. New thrilling but also difficult things come towards you every year and they rob your time. Then one forgets that he has enjoyed playing, wanted to buy/download this music and nevertheless one finds again to these things. For which reason ever. At all events I am glad that it was like this. This "hard&heavy" music means much more to me - I can identify myself with this better that with the pop songs which are played on the radio.
