SONNTAGSPOST | What we've learned from Blogging

Bloggen bedeutet viel Arbeit.

Wie man Make-Up richtig verwendet.
Richtig gelesen.

Blogging is much work.
Eden had known it from the beginning, but me, naïve how I am, I was rushing in this whole thing and “just did it”. I really missed the world wide web, started to read other blogs and definitely had the need (yes, it was a need) to get something own up again. But this time I didn’t want to do it alone – I implicated Eden in the whole thing. What was a really good idea. In my view. Maybe it wasn’t the best time for starting a blog, even so it was my graduation year. But I wanted to write again, be creative and pursue my hobbies.

After a few weeks I also recognized it: Blogging is much more than just a hobby. Blogging is real hard work in which one has to invest much time. If I come home from my “boring office job”, I eat and then I’m writing posts and so on. Work again. The advantage of jobs like mine – free Friday afternoons. But if you blog, you spend most of your leisure with it.

One prepares posts, deals with HTML, takes photographs, plans what will be online in the next times, makes outfit shootings and edits the pictures. That is work. But even after one year I really like it, I love it and I can’t imagine how it has been without blogging.

How to apply make-up.
You read right. I never was that kind of girl who is into make-up. I don’t know many things now, but I know much more than a year before. One year ago I wasn’t indifferent about my bright eyebrows, my impure skin and my bad eyelid line. But since I’ve been reading many different blogs, I know how to bring the best out of my genes.

Like myself more.

I guess that’s something one can mostly recognize in the fashion posts. A year ago I nearly hated pictures of me, I hated to be in front of the camera and I hardly ever liked a picture. But I’ve learned how I look good on pictures and these pictures pushed my self-confidence. Of course I still have (many) days on which I don’t like my appearance – but that’s normal, I guess.

Photographing
We accidentally came to a reflex camera some years ago.

[Casey] I used the camera enthusiastically since then but I haven't understood it. This started with blogging because I was curious and I wanted to know why the pictures on the other blogs look so different than mine. Therefore it meant to me: A little technical literature, a little internet reserch and a little lerning by doing. And now I understand the thing better, the technique behinde it, what one can do with it. Unbelievable, actually.

[Eden] I've always been interested in photography but remarked that I simply not creative enough for this. I make photos and I am like "I didn't want it that way." But since I photograph Casey I have found out something very important: Only because one can't do something at first, it doesn't mean that one can't learn it. I did some internet research and learned what looks good and how one puts people into scene. I am simply glad that I am allowed to take photos of Casey on Sundays, no matter which weather.

Trying new things and being more open-minded
To think outside of the box if one wants to call it like that. It is so peculiarly but looking into the notebook once in a while, longer and more intense hasn't minimized my world into that but differentiated my view of the world. There are so many things which I never took into account or seen negazively before, floral pattern - if one wants an example. I am letting myself in much more than in the last few years.

shopping more consciously
(Unfortunately), this doesn't mean that I shop lastingly but I shop no longer so at random. I often wonder wheter I really like to have this piece and how I can combine it or whether I don't already have this or that part so similarly at home with me. If I don't like something a hundred percent I leave it in the store or send it back - because otherwise things rot in someplace far behind, if one is honest. Today I am simply picky today with the things I buy and wear. It has to appeal to me a hundred percent and fit one thousand percent.

work hard - and then work harder
Every post means several hours of work, even if the whole thing is a hobby. And this is so obvious in many things. Nevertheless it requires planning, execution and putting into action. Every post needs content, photos, construction, translation and so on. Everything doesn't happen in a minute, this is a time effortful process which starts from the start again when it comes to an end. Even if one comes home late from work/school, has no motivation anymore - we do it because it simply gives us so much pleasure.

Doing things just for myself
A point which sounds stupid in this "blogger"world, in which many things seems to be superficial and also is like that, but it's true. I am reading much more, take time for it because I have to do a review every Thursday. I'm on camera - a thing which I hated a year ago, but today I wouldn't like to miss it, it's such a good feeling, if one doesn't look so shitty on a photo like one feels. I have dealt more with photography and the best thing: I write much more. And this is the thing I love about blogging.
